I decided to create three sets of paired songs that I think speak to each other, or speak powerfully with one another, to help myself organize the cluster I have lovingly titled “Hodgepodge Songs You Can Dance And/Or Cry To.” As someone who believes you could dance and/or cry to any song if you believe in the song (and yourself) hard enough, I hope these songs (and the way I have put them together) resonate with you in the sharp & propulsive ways they have with me! Enjoy!
1. THE BALWAN PAHALWAN SECTION - MIA’s Muscle
When I first heard MIA’s Muscle I thought she was singing “it takes some muscle to fall in love” not “it takes a muscle to fall in love” -- like falling in love demands a bravery, a muscularity of the heart.
2. THE BALWAN PAHALWAN SECTION - Bonnie Banane M U S C L E S
Bonnie Banane’s M U S C L E S is pure candor and flexing: “I break my hearts good” coupled with the embarrassing and very real proclamation “I GET PREGNANT WHEN I SEE YOU!” Both are sincere and vulnerable about the various ups and downs of sexy-time.
3. 2K’s BLENDS - Ashanti V. Ruff Sqwad - 2GEVA [NXT 2 U] (2K'S EDIT)
I’m almost too shy to talk about these -- there are no euphemisms here! 2K is brilliant and a personal soundcloud favorite. Please follow him!! & have a great time with these two tracks.
4. 2K’S BLEND: Ironsoul V. Pretty Ricky - Art Of Music (2K 'Grind' Blend)
5. ME & YOU; YOU & ME - Cassie - Me & You ( Rosbeg edit)
Both are ruled by the emotiveness of the women at the core - Cassie’s voice and Roja’s moves. Women who initiate ftw!
6. ME & YOU; YOU & ME - Siva Siva Shankara
BONUS - Jind Mahi by Malkit Singh
Please just watch the slideshow. Malkit Singh is a total stud and the person who made it is obviously in love with him.
