A couple of weeks ago we asked you, our Agents, to share with us that one moment when something you watched on TV turned on that previously unknown light of sexual thoughts and feelings in your dil-o-dimaag and other throbbing places! As we got your responses, we saw the clearly desi trend of songs being the biggest sparks that lit Agents’ libidinal fires. And wouldn’t it be a shame if we didn’t bring all those lightbulb moments together to create one big shining light? So here’s our crowd-sourced list of songs that got us all hot and bothered for the first time. We could not fit all your inputs here, but find the longer playlist of all songs that were sent in to us, in the playlist below. More fun for everyone!
1. Tip Tip Barsa Paani: Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik
Raveena Tandon in that wet yellow saree clearly had an impact, because this song emerged as the biggest favourite. Of course, there are different fantasies that the song from the film Mohra (1994) evokes: some would like to be Raveena, some Akshay while others would just love to be the tip tip barasta paani!
2. Made in India: Alisha Chinai
The sight in 1995 of Milind Soman flexing his muscles suggestively from inside a cauldron. Need we say more? @iconohclast says: “Milind Soman in that sutli dhoti emerging from that wooden box. I knew I was into men.” Bedatri D Choudhury says: “A topless Milind Soman in a box. My generation grew up overnight.”
3. Bheege Hont Tere: Kunal Ganjawala
Emraan Hashmi doing it with Mallika Sherawat on water ki tankis, building ledges, on the beach, in a hammock and on the stairs. This song from Murder (2004) has gotten many a bulb glowing at full wattage. @Bharat9203 says: “Murder was played frequently by our cablewallah. Muted the TV everytime my mom/aunt was around.”
4. Mushkil Bada Yeh Pyaar Hai: Alka Yagnik
Manisha Koirala’s sexy assertive growl at the beginning of this song from Gupt (1997) is what wins this one a spot on this list. @awryaditi and @shreyailaanusuya seem to agree.
5. Dhak Dhak Karne Laga: Udit Narayan, Anuradha Paudwal
Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit seductively chase each other through the woods in this song from Beta (1991). Rolling in haystacks, dancing by a waterfall, leaving trails in sand – Madhuri’s moves and expressions take us through longing, ecstasy, and pain-as-pleasure. Is it any wonder we were set on fire?
6. Justify My Love: Madonna
Who could resist Madonna, lounging sexily in the corridor of some kind of hotel-turned-pleasure palace, authoritative and seductive, asking, “So now what?” She had us wanting, needing, waiting... burning!
