If it’s May 17th, it Must Be International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia!

May 17th is here! (Woh aagya, Woh aagya, haan wo aagya…..)

And what’s so special about today? Well, it’s International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, and AOI stands with the wider online campaign started by Point of View (POV) in India to support celebrating this day, worldwide.

#May17thBecause that’s the day in 1990 that the World Health Organisation declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder. International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia was created in 2004, and since then has expanded to include people of numerous sexual orientations and gender identities, such as intersex and pansexual, among others, but remains united in its purpose of solidarity and acceptance.

So what are you waiting for? Today is the day to come together to voice your views, and share your stories!

In India, where we are still dealing with Section 377 (ugh!), let’s use May 17th as an opportunity to spread some queer love.

So, check out these 9 reasons why we need May 17th:
