Postcards From My Periods

Missed the first few postcards? They are below!

9 stories of girls’ experiences during menstruation help us think about how important it is to not allow the taboo around menstruation to persist. These stories are sometimes funny, sometimes angry or annoyed, sometimes confused or sad. By not talking about menstruation we teach girls to be inhibited in general, and teach young people that things to do with sex and the body are shameful. We leave young people alone to fend for themselves and figure out things on their own, with which they could use help and understanding.

By making these video postcards, we hope to make the stories about periods part of the flow of stories about life – till we speak of menstruation as we speak of so many other things.

The stories are taken from the book “Gender, Poverty and Puberty” produced by Vacha Charitable Trust.
